BOP
(Boil Out Power)
DESCRIPTION:
BOP is
an off-white, free-flowing powder. It is odorless. It is a combination
of alkaline detergents, wetting agents, chelating agents and anti-caking
agents. In use concentrations, BOP has a pH
of 13. It is a strong alkali.
PURPOSE:
| 1. Quick removal of normal dirt soils,
oil-based soils, paint and rust from ferrous and certain non-ferrous metals
in a single hot vat operation. Example: Cleaning motor blocks in the automotive
field, and cleaning meat hooks and trolleys in meat packing plants.
2. Use as a paint remover for certain
alkaline resistant paints, notably epons and melamines from ferrous metal
surfaces.
3. Removes soils from ferrous metal
molds as used in the rubber industry. Example: Tire manufacturers and retread
companies.
4. Carbonaceous deposits are removed
in a soak tank operation and by circulation. Example: Heat exchangers,
cleaned in place and by vat cleaning. BOP may
be added 2% to 5% by volume to assist in removing heavy petroleum soils. |
HOW TO USE:
For the most part, BOP
is
employed in a soak vat operation. BOP is recommended
to be used in concentrations of from 10 ounces to 4 pounds to a gallon
of water and at temperatures at or near the boil. (Average concentrations
1 lb. BOP per 1 gallon of water.) Average
concentrations are recommended where soil is mostly petroleum in nature
and where rust is light. When heavier rust soils are encountered, heavier
concentrations of BOP are recommended. Time
of contact of the cleaning solution with the soiled parts is dependent
upon the type and amount of soil to be removed.
BOP may
be used in a cold vat solution. Generally, heavier concentrations are necessary.
(1½ - 3 pounds BOP per gallon of water
and longer time in tank is required.)
ADVANTAGES:
| 1. Removing rust with an alkaline rust-stripper
eliminates the danger of over-pickling, a serious problem where acid is
used.
2. Eliminates the necessity for acid-proof
equipment. BOP is applied with standard equipment.
3. BOP is
especially buffered for a long solution life, despite contamination.
4. BOP removes
soil that contains iron sulfide, iron oxide, carbon, grease, rust and paint
all in one operation.
5. Eliminates the necessity for acid
treatment after the part is alkaline clean.
6. Non-dusting, free flowing and 100%
soluble.
7. Approved by the U.S. Department of
Agriculture Poultry Inspection and Meat Inspection Division and given an
A2 classification. |
PRECAUTIONS:
BOP contains
caustic soda. It is a highly alkaline product.
| 1. Always add to cold water.
2. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
3. In case of contact with skin, flush
with large quantities of water. When eyes are contacted flush with large
amounts of water and SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION.
Do not clean aluminum or die-cast parts
in BOP. These soft metals are attacked by
BOP.
5. KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. |
Handling Information:
For safe handling of the product, read the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
