SCR
DESCRIPTION:
SCR is
a dark liquid containing mineral acid and a specially selected inhibiting
agent.
PURPOSE:
SCR is
designed to remove scales and oxide soils safely. Water scales, rust, annealing
and heat treating scales are removed quickly and economically by SCR.
Concrete soils and mineral powders are also removed by SCR.
HOW TO USE:
| 1. SCR is used to descale air-conditioning
and water circulating equipment. It is normally used at a concentration
of 1 to 4 (20% by volume) and circulated through the equipment until scale
is removed. Circulation time depends on the amount of scale present.
2. For removing concrete from ferrous
metals and painted surfaces, use a concentration of 1 to 1, or as little
as 1 to 4 mixed with water. CAUTION: Some low quality paints are faded
by a solution of SCR. When paint is present, test a small area before proceeding
with your cleaning job. The solution is sprayed on or brushed on in a cold
application.
3. For removing heat treating and annealing
scales, use at least 1 to 4 solution of SCR
and water. The cleaning is speeded up by increasing the concentration of
SCR.
A cold vat is used, one that is rubber, plastic or glass lined.
4. Zinc, chromium, and cadmium plating
are also stripped from ferrous metals by using a 1 to 1 solution of SCR
and water. Lightly plated coatings are removed with a less concentrated
solution, 1 to 4 with water. A tank is necessary for this soaking operation
(again, an acid proof tank). |
ADVANTAGES:
| 1. SCR is a water soluble liquid. Thus,
it mixes instantly with water.
2. SCR is fast acting. Circulation time
and "down time" are cut to a minimum. No heating is needed.
3. SCR is safe on ferrous metals. It
gives you the best cleaning with minimum attack on metal.
4. SCR is highly concentrated. It is
as concentrated as any available product of its kind. One gallon of SCR
dissolves 3 to 4 pounds of scale.
5. SCR contains an extra margin of protection.
In use concentrations, it has twice the amount of inhibitor necessary to
protect metals.
6. Tests show SCR
to have a shelf life in excess of 200 days.
7. The inhibitor used in SCR
meets military specification MIL-I-17433A. |
PRECAUTIONS:
| 1. Tanks and pumps used for cleaning
should be made of acid resistant material. This is especially true where
extended contact with material is necessary.
2. SCR solutions are extremely active
and care should be taken to prevent extended contact with the skin. Rinse
affected areas with copious quantities of soap and water. In case of accidental
contact with the eyes, flush with plenty of water using eye cup or fountain
and seek medical attention.
3. In circulation cleaning of equipment,
vent closed systems at the highest point to allow escape of gases that
are formed.
4. Do not allow SCR
solution to contact plant life. Solutions of this product tend to kill
plant life.
5. When making solutions of SCR,
ALWAYS add the SCR to water. NEVER add water
to SCR.
6. KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. |
Handling Information:
For safe handling of the product, read the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
