In a few special applications, pressures
become extreme enough to force any petroleum lubricant from between contact
areas. With its 5% added Molybdenum Disulfide (Moly), MOLY
880 CROWN & CHASSIS® still provides protection
against metal-to-metal contact. Molybdenum disulfide, when plated out on
the metal surfaces, can withstand up to 500,000 psi. Moly forms a very
thin film on the metal surfaces and helps reduce wear and friction, thereby
reducing heat build-up which helps to reduce scuffing, galling, and roughening
of metal surfaces.
