| For many years asphaltic-type open
gear lubricants have been used to lubricate gears on power shovels, rotary
kilns, and other heavy industrial machinery. However, there are conditions
where these asphaltic open gear lubricants have not been received well
by many machinery operators. Poor adhesion to metal surfaces causes high
consumption. Asphaltic open gear lubricants are also known to provide less
than satisfactory performance at lower temperatures due to difficulty in
dispensing and the lubricant not adhering, leaving the gears unlubricated. |
SPECIAL
EXPOSED GEAR GREASEAdheres
to Metal Surfaces
Texas Refinery Corp. developed SPECIAL
EXPOSED GEAR GREASE to meet the stringent requirements of an open
gear lubricant - - to prolong the life of gears operating under exposed
environmental conditions. Inherent in an open gear lubricant should be
its ability to adhere to metal surfaces between the gear teeth; therefore,
it must have good adhesive and cohesive properties. A product which is
too cohesive will "ball up" and not adhere, while one which is too adhesive
will be difficult to apply. These two properties are balanced in Texas
Refinery Corp.'s SPECIAL EXPOSED GEAR GREASE so
that the lubricant will protect the surface from wear.
SPECIAL
EXPOSED GEAR GREASEContains
Tackiness and Cushioning Agents
SPECIAL EXPOSED
GEAR GREASE contains tackiness agents and cushioning agents to keep
the lubricant doing its job, instead of squeezing out. Extreme pressure
exerted by the meshing of gears tends to force SPECIAL
EXPOSED GEAR GREASE to the edge, but the cohesive ability helps
pull it back into the center of the gear face, assuring a constant film
of lubricant protection against dust. SPECIAL EXPOSED
GEAR GREASE reduces wear by providing a dust-resistant film of protection.
SPECIAL
EXPOSED GEAR GREASEResists
Moisture
Exposed gears are not only subjected
to dust and dirt, but also to weather conditions, all year long. Rain,
dew, sleet, snow, and even the hosing down of equipment with water mean
excessive moisture is present. SPECIAL EXPOSED GEAR
GREASE is formulated to be highly resistant to moisture. Its superior
bonding property keeps the grease from washing out in a wet environment.
SPECIAL
EXPOSED GEAR GREASEProvides
Anti-Wear Protection
Texas Refinery Corp. builds SPECIAL
EXPOSED GEAR GREASE from exceptionally high quality base oils to
provide good oiliness properties for the grease. These quality oils contribute
to SPECIAL EXPOSED GEAR GREASE's anti-wear
properties, as well as rust and corrosion resistance. Rust may help cause
wear on open gears, but since SPECIAL EXPOSED GEAR
GREASE is resistant to moisture, rust is not a problem and wear
can be reduced. SPECIAL EXPOSED GEAR GREASE also
contains special anti-wear agents - - zinc oxide and a liquid Molybdenum
(moly) compound for increased anti-wear properties.
SPECIAL
EXPOSED GEAR GREASEHas
Optimum Temperature Range
Texas Refinery Corp.'s SPECIAL
EXPOSED GEAR GREASE maintains "grease-like" consistency for proper
lubrication over a wide temperature range. It can be applied easily from
a tube used in a heavy duty caulking gun or from a pail or drum. SPECIAL
EXPOSED GEAR GREASE can be pumped at approximately 40°F. and
has a minimum dropping point of 290°F.
SPECIAL
EXPOSED GEAR GREASEIs
Used In Many Applications
SPECIAL EXPOSED
GEAR GREASE is formulated to be used for many applications. It is
excellent for open gear and sliding applications such as guide rails and
fifth wheels. Also, it has been found to be a tough, long-lasting lubricant
in the almond picking industry. In addition, SPECIAL
EXPOSED GEAR GREASE is authorized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture
as an H2 lubricant which has no contact with food. SPECIAL
EXPOSED GEAR GREASE will not slip, sling or drip off . . . it's
the answer to the challenge of open gears! |
