PRO-SPEC® III

Made With High Quality Base Stocks

Texas Refinery Corp. combines the latest technological developments in base stock refining techniques with superior additives for outstanding performance abilities. The base stocks go through several refining steps. Solvent extraction removes impurities from the oil. The oils are also hydro-treated which improves the base oil's response to the high quality additives used by Texas Refinery Corp. The base stock oils are also dewaxed to improve their cold temperature performance capabilities.

The solvent extracted neutrals have a natural high viscosity index which gives the finished engine oil greater resistance to temperature change. When the engine temperatures are high, the oil has less tendency to thin out. When the engine temperatures are cold, the oil has less tendency to thicken. Because of the special refining techniques the base oils have minimum contribution to varnish, gum and sludge build-up.

PRO-SPEC® III

Exceeds The Challenge

PRO-SPEC® III MULTI-VISCOSITY MOTOR OIL meets and/or exceeds the latest gasoline engine oil specification SJ, SH, SG, as well as the latest diesel engine oil specifications CD-II, CE, CF-4, CG4, API CH-4, Cummins 20071, 20076, and 20077, Mack EO-M and EO-M Plus. Faced with more stringent environmental regulations, diesel engine designers have introduced a number of changes in diesel engines to ensure emissions compliance. Virtually all engine builders retard fuel injection timing to reduce exhaust emissions. However, while effective at reducing emissions, this approach also greatly increases the amount of soot particles in the engine oil. This oil-borne soot can be a major factor in increasing engine wear, oil thickening and filter plugging. It can also lead to sludge build-up, poor pumpability and other problems. In short, increased lubricant soot threatens engine life and must be controlled.

Texas Refinery Corp.'s PRO-SPEC® III MULTI-VISCOSITY MOTOR OIL addresses head-on this most serious effect of the new emissions regulations, and the primary focus of the API CG-4 and CH-4 specifications. Extra measures of soot protection were designed into PRO-SPEC® III to ensure that wear, oil thickening and filter plugging would be adequately controlled. In the MACK T-8E test a maximum requirement of 11.5% in Viscosity Increase was allowed with 3.8% soot. PRO-SPEC® III passed this test with flying colors with a result of only 4.46% increase in viscosity. This is just one way PRO-SPEC® III gained MACK EO-M and EO-M Plus approval, and provides lower oil consumption and better extended drains than most oils meeting the API CG4 and CH-4 specifications.

PRO-SPEC® III

Contains Superior Additives

PRO-SPEC® III MULTI-VISCOSITY MOTOR OIL contains several superior additives. One of these is the zinc anti-wear package. Texas Refinery Corp. uses two different types of high quality zinc anti-wear protection. One of the zinc compounds is activated by low temperatures for the gasoline engines. The other zinc compound is activated by higher temperatures for protection of the diesel engines.

Other additives contained in PRO-SPEC® III MULTI-VISCOSITY MOTOR OIL inhibit rust, corrosion, oxidation and foaming. The oxidation inhibitor, in particular, has been beefed up. Texas Refinery Corp. is able to virtually eliminate sludging and, therefore, this oil helps allow longer drain intervals. The increased drain interval, with protection to the equipment, translates into a very economical oil.

PRO-SPEC® III

For Gasoline And Diesel Engines

In most operations using a commercial brand engine oil, several different oils will be needed. PRO-SPEC® III MULTI-VISCOSITY MOTOR OIL can be used for both gasoline and diesel equipment; therefore, inventory can be reduced and some problems can be eliminated.

With Texas Refinery Corp.'s PRO-SPEC® III MULTI-VISCOSITY MOTOR OIL, you can minimize the problem of putting the wrong oil in a piece of equipment and thus causing severe problems.

PRO-SPEC® III

Protects New Designed Diesel Engines

Piston diameter in the upper ring land was increased to reduce the Volume of the crevice between piston and liner, and improve combustion efficiency. Because of the closer tolerances, any deposit that builds up on the side of the piston can more easily polish the cylinder wall and interfere with ring movement.

PRO-SPEC® III's detergency, providing improved cleaning ability, is just one way PRO-SPEC® III will reduce formation of deposits in the ring area, thus reducing wear in the engine.

Higher top ring placement increases the heat to which an oil is exposed, as do increased injector pressures and generally higher operating temperatures. PRO-SPEC® III has an outstanding shear strength needed in these modern, close tolerance engines. PRO-SPEC® III does a superior job handling the new demands placed on engine oil. In the Caterpillar 1K test for CG-4 and the API CH-4 approvals, 4% max is allowed on top land heavy carbon and PRO-SPEC® III passed with 0% top land heavy carbon.

PRO-SPEC® III

Has A High TBN Level

PRO-SPEC® III MULTI-VISCOSITY MOTOR OIL has a high Total Base Number of 14. This high TBN level indicates how well PRO-SPEC® III MULTI-VISCOSITY MOTOR OIL fights acids and their corrosive effects. Many commercial lubricants on the market have a TBN level from only 6 to 10.

There are many different ways to boost the total base number of an oil. Texas Refinery Corp.'s PRO-SPEC® III MULTI-VISCOSITY MOTOR OIL receives most of its alkalinity from the detergent value of the oil. Of course this is the most expensive way to go and it is certainly the most effective as well. High detergency TBN additives are more effective at controlling the overall effects of increased soot loading of the oil. The high total base number end result is longer life and extended drain intervals with PRO-SPEC® III MULTI-VISCOSITY MOTOR OIL.
